Accessibility
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Accessibility isn't a compliance checkbox for us — it's the product. Calla Care exists because the most accessible piece of technology in most seniors' lives is the telephone, and we build everything else to live up to that standard.
Accessibility on the calls
The service itself requires nothing new from your loved one: no app, no screen, no buttons beyond answering the phone they already use. On the calls, Clara adapts to each person:
- She speaks clearly and unhurried, adjusting pace and volume of speech to hearing needs you describe in the profile;
- She asks one question at a time and never rushes an answer;
- She repeats or rephrases patiently — as many times as needed, without frustration;
- If your loved one doesn't remember her, she kindly reintroduces herself rather than quizzing or correcting.
Accessibility on the website and dashboard
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA across our website and family dashboard. In practice that means:
- Full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators;
- Semantic HTML and ARIA labels that work with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS;
- Color contrast that meets or exceeds AA requirements;
- Text that scales with your browser settings without breaking;
- Animations kept minimal and respectful of reduced-motion preferences.
Accessibility is part of our design review for every feature we ship, and we test with assistive technology regularly.
Known limitations
We are honest about where we still have work to do. Some charts in the wellness dashboard currently convey trends visually; we are adding text summaries so the same insight is available to screen reader users. If you hit anything else, we want to know.
Feedback and help
If any part of Calla Care is hard for you or your loved one to use, email support@calla.care with “Accessibility” in the subject line. A real person will respond within one business day, and accessibility issues go to the front of our fix queue.
